~ You are Beautiful ~
~ You are Beautiful ~
Seeing Ourselves
Many of us do not take the time to notice and
acknowledge how beautiful we are as humans.
Many of us do not take the time to notice and acknowledge how beautiful we are
as humans. We may be great lovers of beauty, seeing it in the people, places, and things around us, while completely missing
it in ourselves. Some of us feel that it is vain to consider our appearance too much, or we may find that when we look at
ourselves, all we see are imperfections. Often we come to the mirror with expectations and preconceived notions about beauty
that blind us from seeing ourselves clearly. As a result, we miss the beauty that is closest to us, the beauty we are. Sometimes
we see our beauty in a shallow way, noticing how well we are conforming to social norms, but failing to see the deeper beauty
that shines out from within and that will continue to shine regardless of how we measure up to society’s ideal.
If we can cut through all these obstacles and simply appreciate how beautiful we are, we free up so much energy. We
also become less dependent upon the opinions and feedback of others since we become our own greatest admirers. Many of us
know that after a great yoga practice or a long, deep meditation, we are more able to see how beautiful we are. This is because
we have released some of our baggage, thus unburdening ourselves and summoning forth the spirit that dwells within us. It
is the heady combination of the divine spirit and the human body that conveys beauty more accurately than anything else.
To keep ourselves in touch with our own beauty, we can surround ourselves with images that reflect our beauty back
to us—photos of a relative or child who has our eyes, images of teachers who embody spirit, or self-portraits that capture
our essence in a way that allows us to see ourselves anew. The best way to keep ourselves in touch with our own beauty is
to keep looking deeply into our own souls and opening our eyes to the human being we see in the mirror every day.

Transforming Anger to Light
Transforming Anger to Light
Give Your Anger to the Earth
As humans, we all
have anger, sometimes more than others. A healthy way of purging our anger from our bodies is to give it to Mother Earth.
We can imagine ourselves being grounded as the electrical energy passes from us into Mother Earth below. We can see that energy
go straight to the earth’s core where it becomes part of the continuous growth process of our planet and is transformed
from negative to positive, from dark to light. When we choose to give our anger to the earth, we trust our connection with
the natural world we live in and the great universe that fuels it all. Mother Earth will lovingly transform your anger into
light so no need to feel guilty about unloading to her.
We can make this offering of our energy from any location,
whether many stories up or on a ship at sea. We know the earth is below us, supporting us and sustaining us. If we have the
opportunity to physically connect to the earth by going outdoors and touching unpaved ground, we may find it easier to connect
to nature’s energy flow. It may also be easier to receive the flow of positive, calming, healing energy that comes to
fill our bodies when we have emptied ourselves of our anger. To begin, sit and breathe deeply, ask Mother Earth to accept
your anger, and imagine it coming down your spine out of your tailbone, and into the earth’s deep core. To finish, be
sure to honor and thank the earth for her loving service.
When we work with our anger this way, we acknowledge
that like everything else it is merely energy that can be used positively or negatively. During our grounding meditation,
we may be given direction to channel this energy for its best use. We may find that the earth can help us cleanse misplaced
energy to use for its rightful purpose. When we do this with gratitude, we know that we are not misusing the earth for our
own selfish purposes. Instead we are connecting ourselves with the energy of our homeland, and when we do this we nurture
the earth as it nourishes us.

~Forgiveness~
It is said, “To extend
an olive branch is to Forgive”.
I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit.
For too long, every ounce of forgiveness I owned was locked away, hidden from view, waiting for me to bestow its
precious presence upon some worthy person. Alas, I found most people to be singularly unworthy of my valuable forgiveness,
and since they never asked for any, I kept it all for myself. Now, the forgiveness that I hoarded has sprouted inside my heart
like a crippled seed yielding bitter fruit.
No more! At this moment, my life has taken on new hope and assurance. Of all the world’s population, I am one
of the few possessors of the secret to dissipating anger and resentment. I now understand that forgiveness has value only
when it is given away. By the simple act of granting forgiveness, I release the demons of the past about which I can do nothing,
and I create in myself a new heart, a new beginning.
I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. I will forgive even those who do not ask for forgiveness.
Many are times when I have seethed in anger
at a work or deed thrown into my life by an unthinking or uncaring person. I have wasted valuable hours imagining revenge
or confrontation. Now I see the truth revealed about this psychological rock inside my shoe. The rage I nurture is often one-sided,
for my offender seldom gives thought to his offense!
I will now and forevermore silently offer my forgiveness even to those who do not see that they need
it. By the act of forgiving, I am no longer consumed by unproductive thoughts. I give up bitterness. I am content in my soul
and effective again with my fellowman.
I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. I will forgive those who criticize me unjustly.
Knowing that slavery in any form is wrong,
I also know that the person who lives a life according to the opinion of others is a slave. I am not a slave. I have chosen
my counsel. I know the difference between right and wrong. I know what is best for the future of my family, and neither misguided
opinion nor unjust criticism will alter my course.
Those who are critical of my goals and dreams simply do not understand the higher purpose to which
I have been called. I forgive their lack of vision, and I forge ahead. I now know that criticism is part of the price paid
for leaping past mediocrity.
I
will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. I will forgive myself.
For many years, my greatest enemy has been myself. Every mistake, every miscalculation, every stumble
I made has been replayed again and again in my mind. Every broken promise, every day wasted, every goal not reached has compounded
the disgust I feel for lack of achievement in my life. My dismay has developed a paralyzing grip. When I disappoint myself,
I respond with inaction and become more disappointed.
I realize today that it is impossible to fight an enemy living in my head. By forgiving myself, I
release the doubts, fears, and frustration that have kept my past in the present. From this day forward, my history will cease
to control my destiny. I have forgiven myself. My life has just begun.
I will forgive even those who do not ask for forgiveness. I will forgive those who criticize me unjustly.
I will forgive myself.
I
will greet this day with a forgiving spirit.

Standing in Faith...

A Sailor who fearfully watches stormy seas lash his vessel will always steer an unproductive course. But a wise
and experienced captain keeps his eye firmly fixed upon the lighthouse. He knows that by guiding his ship directly to a specific
point, the time spent in discomfort is lessened. And by deeping his eye on the light, there never exists one second of
discouragement. My light, my harbor, my future is within sight!
I will persist without exception. I am a person
of great faith.
In Jeremiah, my Creator declares, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." From this day forward, I will claim a faith in the certainty
of my future.
Too much of my life has been spent doubting my beliefs and believing my doubts. No more! I
have faith in my future. I do not look left or right. I look forward. I can only persist.
For me, faith will
always be a sounder guide than reason because reason can only go so far -- faith has no limits. I will expect miracles in
my life because faith produces them every day. And the reward of this faith is to see the future that I believed.
I will continue despite exhaustion. I focus on results. I am a person of great faith.
I will persist without
exception.
